Purple and small
The green grass stands tall
Hiding and protecting me from all
When the wind blew
You tasted my fragrance
But you refused
To acknowledge my presence.
How many feet have scurried by
How many stepped on my face
Even the bees and the butterflies
They never knew
And just like you
Not once stopped to see
What lay behind this grass-tree
how many hearts I have yearned to feel
how much pain I have concealed
not one soul desired to know
that I, too, am a part of this meadow.
Shrunken and shunned I fall
Behind the green grass that stands tall
Blocking me out from all
When the wind blows
You taste my fragrance
But you still refuse
To acknowledge my presence.
